Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Decorated Pitcher.

The flower with the circle between the stem and petals makes a probable attribution to Mauldine Perine or his former associate, William Linton of Baltimore, Maryland.  Perine and sons worked in stoneware from approximately 1827 to after 1900 and Linton made stoneware from 1845 to 1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98).

This beauty features a Larger 1 1/2 Gallon Size, Tooled Rim and Spout, Tall Neck, Bulbous Body, Tooled Footer, Applied Handle, and Cobalt Decoraton.  Leaves caress the spout and sides of the neck, while a large sideways tulip graces the front of the body and additional leaves fill out the decoration on the sides of the body.   Additional cobalt accent at the handle terminals.  Stands 12 3/4" tall.

Excellent Condition. Three 1/4" chips on the spout-- two on top and one on the right side; a small stain on the left side toward the back, and a minor 3/16" nibble on the footer.  No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A kiln touch on the front in the making.
