Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "Rich."

This is the work of Prosper Rich and/or one of his four sons who were also potters .  They worked in Muskingum, Knox, and Coshocton Counties of Ohio in the 19th century.  Research has not been able to distinguish which Rich made what pottery when or where!  (James L Murphy's Checklist of 19th Century Bluebird Potters and Potteries in Muskingum County, Ohio,  pp. 337-342).

This jar came from the May 15, 2015 sale of Murphy's collection at Garth's Auction in Ohio.

This beauty features a Broad Rim for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, and the Pottery Stamp in a Fancy Script.  Stands 9" tall.

Very Good Condition. A 1" chip on the rim in the back that appears by the stone popping out to be a stone ping late in the firing, and a 1/2" chip on the underside at the edge.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Some interior Albany slip smears on the outside in the making.
