Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this attractive 2 Gallon Lidded Preserve Jar with Floral.
The decoration indicates that this is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports a Tooled Rim and Shoulder with Seating Ring inside to hold a Lid, and a Folky Double Floral Decoration Created with a Slip Cup. The floral boasts two large leaves, many small leaves on the stems, and two dotted blossoms with six petals each. Strong cobalt too! Stands 9" tall.
Very Good Condition. Three minor 1/8" flakes inside the rim, a 3/4" chip on the rim on the left side, and some staining from use. The lid only has some staining from use.
