Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Unusual 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar wtih Pinwheel Decoration.
The decoration indicates that this is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports a Large Pinwheel Decoration that Fills the Front. This decoration is seen in part of smaller Woodruff jars. Looks fantastic in the larger version! Measures 10 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Chipping around the inner seating ring where a lid would sit, two small chips inside the rim (1/4", 1/2"), three outside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), and one at the bottom (1/2"). A narrow 1" sliver chip on the left handle. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
