    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Bird.  

     

    The style of the bird indicates that this jug was made by Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. who partnered in stoneware from 1857 to 1878 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 65).

     

    This beauty features a Tall and Slender Form, and a Large Bird on a Branch Decoration.  The bird is 8" from beak to tip of the tail.  Stands 14 1/2" tall.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  Shallow knife sharping lines on top and two 1/8" nibbles on the side of the spout, two flakes aboe the tail of the branch, and three small chips on the bottom edge (1/4" to 1/2").  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
