Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Tabletop Churn whose decoration indicates that it was made in Norwalk, Connecticut by Asa Smith.
Asa Smith, his son Asa, and Howard Hobart who worked in Norwalk, Connecticut from about 1849 to the early 1860's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58-60).
This beauty features the Classic Churn Form, Wide Rim with Inner Seating Roing, Tooled Shoulder, an a Large Brushed Cobalt Plant with Four Blossoms in Bright Cobalt. Stands 13 1/4" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. The small chip on the back at the bottom is in the making and glazed over.
