Coming from Doc's Crocks is this Pair of Stoneware Striper Jars from Southwestern Pennsylvania for 1 Money.
The 2 gallon jar was made by Isaac Hewitt of Rices Landing, Pennsylvania. Hewitt ran his pottery in Rices Landing, PA in the 1860's and 1870's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 158-59). It features a dozen stripes down the front alternating from straight to wavy. Stands 11 3/4" tall. Traces of white paint and faint X hairline on the bottom. Otherwise as made.
The 1/2 gallon jar is likely from either Greensboro or New Geneva Pennsylvania circa 1865-1870. It features a Flared Rim, Canted Sides, and a Straight and Two Wavy Stripes. Stands 9" tall. Professional restoration for a slightly curving line from below the rim by the brown drip to the right side of the bottom stripe (closeup). Otherwise light staining only.
