    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by "A. Conrad, New Geneva, Fayette Co., PA."  

     

    Alexander Conrad ran the pottery in New Geneva from 1870-1882 before moving to Shinnston, WV (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 164-65).

     

    Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for the Hot Wax, and Four Lines of Advertising with Leaf Accents.  Stands 8 1/8" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 1" chip on the rim in the back, and a couple minor nibbles on the bottom ring of the rim.  That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Some loss to the cobalt in the making.
