Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 5 Gallon Crock made by "A. P. Donaghho, Parkersburg, W.Va."
Donaghho ran his pottery in Parkersburg from 1874-1900.
This beauty features the more uncommon Crock Form, Company Advertising at the Top; a Fancy Zipper made of Dots, Dashes, and Diamonds in the Middle; and a Zipper made of "X's" that Incorporates the Capacity Number at the Bottom. All the decoration is executed with crisp stenciling and strong cobalt. Medium glaze and strong cobalt for greatly desired contrast. Measures 13 3/4" tall and 12" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip inside the rim, a 1/4" flake outside the rim, a 1/2" chip at the base, and some isolated light staining. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
