Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "A. J. Rhodes, Middlebury, Ohio."
 
This potter is undocumented.  Typically the few pieces known by this pottery are marked "A. and J. H. Rhodes, Middlebury, Ohio." (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 113.). 
 
This jar was once part of the James Murphy Collection. 
 
Very Good Condition.  Two adjacent 1/2" chips on the rim on the right side, a short stain run, and a short "Y" hairline in the bottom of the back that wraps under 3" (closeup)  No inner rim or base chips, or restoration.
