Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful example of the Bardwell's Root Beer Pitcher made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, New York.
Dating around 1900, this beauty is a wonderful example of the skill that the Whites Pottery had gained in molded stoneware between 1890 and 1907.
This beauty is FANCY. It is 12" tall with tapered sides and bulbous base on a footer. The spout hugs the front and has internal filter and North Wind decoration. The handle has a reversed S pattern with molded trim. The body of the pitcher has a beaded background. The front features a shield with "Bardwell's Root Beer" emblazoned on it with a bow on top and a garland of grape leaves framing the sides. The back features another shield, this tiime with a profile of George Washington with the same bow and leaf decoration framing it. Additional embossed grape leaves on the flared bottom. Cobalt accents on the embossed decoration.
Excellent Condition. A couple of pinhead-size flakes on the top of the bulbous base below the handle. Otherwise, as made.
