Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped on the shoulder by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine" and incribed on the bottom with a Cross, the initials "J B", and the date 1981.

This is the work of Jerry Beaumont whom I believe has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today.  His work from York, Maine in the 1980's was some of his finest.

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp, Bottom Inscribing, and a Folk Art Deer in the Woods Standing in Grass and Flanked by Trees.   The cobalt is rich and applied with a slip cup.  Stands 9" tall.

The decoration is reminiscent of that used by the Norton Pottery of Bennington, Vermont in the mid-19th Century.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
