Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Pound Blue and White Spongeware Butter Crock with Original Lid and Bail Handle.
It was made by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Company, Red Wing, Minnesota (1906-1936). You can see this crock in Dan and Gail DePasquale and Larry Peterson, Red Wing Stoneware, p. 128.
This beauty features Strong Cobalt Sponging and the Original Button Lid. Measures 5 1/2" tall and 5 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. The base is as made. No damage of any kind. The lid has a 1/2" chip on the top edge and chips on the underside at the edge. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
Not a piece you see very often.
