Item 2043
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Stoneware Salt Crock in the Apple Blossom Pattern.
This crock is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 126.
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty features a Diamond Background that Hosts "Salt" on the Front Highlighted in Cobalt and Framed by Apple Blossoms. The lid repeats the apple blossom pattern around the top. Diffused blue coloration. Measures 5 3/4" tall and wide.
Excellent Condition. The base has a few pinhead-size nibbles on the inner rim where the lid sits, and a flat 3/4" chip on the underside on the footer out of sight. That's it! No other chips or any hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid has some darkened crazing on the underside. Nothing else to report.
As you know, not a common pattern in blue and white salt crocks.
