Item 10328
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon Blue and White Spongeware Milk Bowl in the Daisy and Lattice Pattern.
This piece is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 159.
This beauty features a Lattice Background with double vertical lines and single horizontal lines that host Four Daisies- One on each Side. Typically these bowls are blue and white, but this one has Dark Cobalt Sponging. The rim features a scalloped picket fence pattern. Molded star on the underside. Retains its original bail handle. Stands 4 1/4" tall and 8 1/4" wide across the top.
I believe that I have seen only 2 of these in the past 15 years. Tough to find.
Very Good Condition. Two shallow nibbles on the top of one handle holder (1/8", 1/4"), and a faint t-shaped hairline on the bottom (closeup). No rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
