    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Butter Crock with Lid. 

     

    It was made by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois around 1920 (Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware, p. 85).

     

    This butter came in 1 to 5 pound sizes.  This one is the 3 pound as indicated by the "3" impressed on the bottom of both the base. 

     

    The beauty has a Label Composed of a Fancy Cartouche Hosting "Butter" Inside.  Diffused blue coloration.  Retains its original lid. Stands 5 1/2" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  The base has two 3/8" chips on top of the rim.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  The lid has some minor nibbles and two small chips (1/8") on the top edge.  Otherwise as  made.
