Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Blue and White Stoneware Rolling Pin that reads, "Compliments of the O'Hearn Co., Melrose, Wis."
These rolling pins were made by the Brush-McCoy Pottery in Roseville, Ohio in the 1920's. They appear in the 1925 catalogue (Martha and Steve Sanford, The Guide to Brush-McCoy Pottery, p. 29).
These rolling pins were made to keep the business before the eyes of the customer with hopes of future business. For discussion and examples, see Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encylcoopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 140-145.
This beauty features the Wildflower Pattern with a Pinstripe on Each End, Three Wildflower Decorations Beside the Stripes, and the Advertising in the Middle. Measures 8" long without the handles and 3" wide.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. An 1/8" glaze skip near one end in the making.
