Item 8157
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this attractive Blue and White Spongeware Jar made and stamped on the bottom by the "Burford Bros., E. L. O."
This is the mark off the Burford Brothers of East Liverpool, Ohio.
This jar was the waste jar from a bedroom was set. It once has a domed lid. Any piece of this set is hard to find. I picked this one up because it is gorgeous and has great promise for general decorating and use in floral arrangements.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty sports a Rolled Rim, Wide Rounded Body, Small Footer, and Fancy Roped Handles. It sports the distinctive sponging of the Burford Brothers Pottery. Looks like Jackson Pollock got his inspiration here! Dark cobalt on a cream background for strong eye appeal. Stands 11 1/2" tall
Excellent Condition. Some nibbles and a few small chips around the inner lid seating ring (closeup). No other rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
