Item 10233
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Blue and White Spongeware Mug made and stamped on the bottom by the "Burford Bros., E.L.O."
This is the mark off the Burford Brothers of East Liverpool, Ohio.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty sports the Distinctive Sponging of the Burford Factory. Looks like Jackson Pollock got his inspiration here! Dark cobalt on a white background for strong and pleasing contrast. Small thumbgrip on the handle is a welcome feature too! Stands 4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Typical light crazing on the underside. Otherwise as made.
As you know, an uncommon mug. I have only ever seen four.
