Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "C. Hart & Son, Sherburne."
This is the stamp of Charles Hart land his son, Nahum, who potted in Sherburne, N.Y. under this stamp from 1866 to 1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Large Floral Executed in Bright and Shiny Cobalt with a Slip Cup. The floral cradles the "2" capacity number. Measures 9" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Small chips around the inside and one outside the rim (3/8" or less), a 1 1/2" hairlilne from the rim to the left of the pottery stamp, chips on both handles, glaze loss on the bottom of the right side (closeup). and some staining from use. No base chips, cracks, or restoration.
