Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jar made by "C. L. Williams & Co., New Geneva, PA."
This is the work of Charles L. Williams who worked in New Geneva from 1896-1898 after taking over the pottery of R. T. Williams who ran the pottery from 1882 to 1895 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 168-70).
This Beauty Sports a Top Stripe Accenting the Rim, a Wavy Stripe Embellishing the Shoulder, the Company Advertising and its Floral Flourishes Emboldening the Middle, and the Capacity Number Flanked by Dashes Gracing the Bottom and Upheld by another Stripe. All the decoration is complete, crisp, and rich and shiny. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. An inverted Y-shaped hairline below the rim and to the left of the handle (closeup), and a stain run on the left side. No chips, cracks, or restoration. A salt drip on the right side in the making.
