Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "C. W. Braun, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of Charles W. Braun who ran the old Heiser pottery in Buffalo from 1857 to 1896 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 75).
Dating around 1870, this beauty features a Thick Rounded Rim, Applied Handles, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Flower created with a Slip Cup. The flower has 4 leaves and a blossom with 5 petals--all accented with small stripes. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 10 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/4" chip on the bottom edge and some scattered staining on the back. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
