Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon Blue and White Spongeware Batter Jug.
It was made by the Cannelton Pottery of Cannelton, Indiana. This company was founded in 1862 by the Clark Brothers and made stoneware from 1872 into the 1890's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 114).
This beauty was Turned on a Wheel and has an Applied Strap Handle and Distinctive Cannelton Sponging around the Rim. Stands 5" tall
Very Good Condition. Glaze wear on the top of the rim on the left side from knife sharpening. Otherwise as made.
