    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar stamped "Charlestown."

     

    This is the stamp of Frederick Carpenter who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts for Barnabas Edmands from 1812-1827 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).

     

    This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Open Handles, a Clear "Charlestown" Stamp, and Ochre Dip on the Bottom.  Stands 10 1/4" tall. 

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 1" chip on the rim on the front left, a faint vertical surface craze line on the front left toward the bottom (closeup), and an 1/8" chip on the base.  No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
