    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Ovoid Jar.  

     

    Its decoration indiates that it was made Smith & Day of Norwalk, Connecticut.  Asa Smith and his Cousin, Noah Day worked in Norwalk from 1843-1849 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58-60).

     

    Circa 1845, this beauty features a Small Size, Ovoid Form, Tall Neck, Tooled Shoulder, and the Capacity Number Framed by Squiggles on Each Side.  Measures 7" tall and 6" wide across the top.  

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  Slightly out-of-round in the making. Exceptionally clean.
