Item 9847
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jar made in Baltimore, Maryland.
Circa 1850, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form, Toolled Rim, Applied Grooved Handles, Wavy Stripe around the Top, and a Floral Garland around the Middle. Two florals grace each side, each with a double leaf and blossom with three petals. Bold cobalt was used throughout. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Now one interesting feature is "$100.00" scratched on the rim in the making (closeup). Stoneware did not cost remotely near that much, so it must have designated the price of an entire order.
Excellent Condition. Two flat chips under one handle (3/8", 1/2"). That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration Three small clay voids where impurities burned away in the firing process.
