    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made in Baltimore, Maryland.

     

    Dating around 1850, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form, Finely Tooled Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, and a Garland of Freehand Vining Around the Shoulder with a Large Dangling Tulip on Each Side.  It took 29 brushstrokes of cobalt to make the decoration. The cobalt is generous, bright, and shiny on a light gray glaze for strong contrast.  Stands 11 3/4" tall. 

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  A 1" surface drying line inside the rim in the making.
