    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar with Tulips easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

     

    Circa 1860, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form, Tall Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Footer, Grooved Handles with Cobalt Accent, and a Brushed Cobalt Sideware Tulip on Each Side. The cobalt is rich and shiny and there is lots of it! Stands 9 3/4" tall.   

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 1/2" flake inside and on top of the rim, and some staining from use.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
