Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulip Garland.
It is easy to attribute to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Tooled Rim, and Four Brushed Cobalt Upright Tulips Executed with Bright and Shiny Cobalt! Each tulip has 8 leaves and a blossom with 6 petals. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Three chips inside the rim (1/8" to 1/4") and six outside the rim ( 1/8" to 3/8"), and a 1/2 chip at the base. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A kiln touch on one tulip in the making.
