Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulip Garland easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

Circa 1860, this beauty features a Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and a Garland of Four Brushed Cobalt Sideware Tulips Around the Middle. Three tulips are large and one squeezed in a remaining spot!  The cobalt is rich and shiny and there is lots of it! Stands 8 3/4" tall.

Very Good Condition.  A minor 1/8" nibble inside the rim, a flat 3/8" reglued flake on top of the rim (closeup), and a 1/4" chip in the lower leaf of the smallest tulip.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or stains.
