    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulip Garland easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

     

    Circa 1860, this beauty features a Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and a Garland of Four Brushed Cobalt Tulips Around the Middle. The tulips have 12 to 14 leaves and blossoms with 7 to 8 petals.  The cobalt is rich and shiny and there is lots of it! Stands 10 3/4" tall.   

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two 1/8" nibbles and a 1/4" chip on the rim, and light staining from use.  That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
