Item 9313
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.
This is the work of Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Tooled Square Rim and Grooved Shoulder and Three Brushed Cobalt Dangling Tulips Around the Middle. The tulips are executed in strong and shiny cobalt and really display nicely on the warm gray glaze. Stands 9" tall.
Excellent Condition. A very faint surface x-shaped craze line on the underside. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
