Coning to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Freehand Decoration.
Circa 1865 and most likely hailing from Beaver, Pennsylvania or vicinity, this beauty features a Top and Bottom Stripe that Frames a Freehand Capacity Number and an Elaborate Vine with Three Blossoms that Undulates Across the Front. Bold and shiny cobalt. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two chips inside the rim (3/8", 1/2"), and a 2 1/2" surface U-shaped ping on the bottom edge on the left side (closeup). No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Slightly out-of-round in the making.
