    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania.

     

    Circa 1865, this beauty features Two Straight and One Wavy Stripe Framing the Rim and Shoulder, an Exuberant Vine with Two Triangular Flowers Filling the Middle, and the Freehand Capacity Number 4 Flanked by Four Dashes and Underscored by a Straight Stripe at the Bottom.  The vining is particularly nice with 84 brushstrokes!  Great contrast between a light gray glaze and darker cobalt.  Stands 14 3/4"

     

    Comes from an older collection north of Pitttsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

     

    Very Good Condition.  A fine y-shaped hairline on the front from the shoulder to the middle (closuep).   Hard to see unless you are really looking for it.  Otherwise, mint.
