    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania-- probably Greensboro, PA.

     

    Circa 1870, this beauty features Top to Bottom Decoration with Strong Cobalt on Gray Glaze Contrast.  From the top down are a straight stripe accenting the rim, a wavy stripe flowing across the shoulder, vining and a capacity number flanked by stripes in the middle, and two more stripes on the bottom.  Stands 11 1/2" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 3/4" chip inside the rim, and a drilled hole in the underside for use as a lamp.   No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.   Slightly lower on the right side in the making. 

     

    A very attractive early SW Pennsylvania jar with lots of freehand decoration.
