Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar from Baltimore, Maryland.
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove to Tie a Covering of Cloth or Waxed Paper Over the Opening for Food Preservation, and Three Large Brushed Cobalt Leaves Around the Middle. Light gray clay and strong cobalt decoration for eye-pleasing contrast. Stands 9 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two minor 1/8" nibbles on the bottom fold of the tooled rim, and a narrow 1/4" chip on the base edge. That's it! No top rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A stone ping above one leaf, a glazed over minor 3/8" chip with a 1" surface line on the bottom edge (closeup), and slightly uneven on the bottom-- all in the making.
