Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Decorated Jar.

The decoration is distinctive of Daniel Shenfelder who made pottery in Reading, Pennsylvania from approximately 1860-1900 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 24-26).

However, the red clay and top stripe would indicate that the Shenfelder or Shenfelder trained decorator was briefly in Southwestern Pennsylvania where this jar was clearly made.

This beauty features a Tooled Rim and Shoulder Accented by a Broad Stripe and a Brushed Cobalt Vine with Two Fuchsia Cascading Across the Middle. The vining has 26 leaves and the blossoms have 6 petals each. Dark and shiny cobalt. Stands 11 1/2" tall

Excellent Condition. A single 1/4" chip at the base.  Otherwise as made.
