Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim for Tying a Cover Over, and a Garland of 2 Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulips and a Large Leaf Around the Middle. Stands 10 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 3/8" chip and a couple nibbles inside the rim, two 1/4" flakes outside the rim, a 3/8" chip on the underside at the edge, and some light staining from use.  No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
