Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar whose form and decoration indicate that it was made in Strasburg, Virginia.
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, and Four Sections of Brushed Cobalt Comma Vining Hanging from the Shoulder. Stands 9 3/8" tall.
Good Condition. Three 1/2" chips outside the rim, with some henpecks in the glaze in one spot. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. (what looks like a filled drill hole on the bottom center is not)
