    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Unusual 4 Gallon Crock from the Midwest.  

     

    Circa 1880, this beauty features a "4" Capacity Number used to Create a Face.  Eyes and eyebrows are added above the 4, making the 4 a nose, and a mouth is created with lines and dots below the 4.  Measures 11 1/4" tall and 10 3/4" wide across the top. 

     

    Good Condition.  Some glaze loss inside at the bottom, a 1/2" chip and nibbles on the left handle, nibbles along the front of the right handle, a 3" Y-shaped surface line on the back to the left of center, and a 4" vertical hairline on the front bottom to the right of the decoration (closeup).  No rim or base chips or restoration.
