Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous Blue and White Country Spongeware Pitcher.

Circa 1880 and made in NE Ohio, this beauty is a heavy stoneware rather than the more refined spongeware tableware of the day.  It sports the classic pitcher form with Squared Rim, Tall Neck, Bulbous Base, Applied Handle, and Blue Sponging.  The sponging is rich and allows lots of white glaze to show through for a strong contrast.  Stands 8 3/4" tall.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  What looks like a chip on the top of the rim on the left side is in the making and glazed over.
