    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon and lovely 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania.  

     

    Circa 1880 and probably hailing from Greensboro, PA, this beauty features a Wax Sealer Form with Grooved Rim for Wax, Tooled Rim, Tapered Sides, and Four Stripes, the bottom two of which frame a Fancy Emblem.   Strong contrast and very crisp stencil.  Stands 8 1/4" tall. 

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two 1/4" chips inside the rim. That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 1 1/2" firing line at the base in the making not visible inside (closeup).
