Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 8" Tanware Pitcher from New Geneva, Pennsylvania.
During the 1880's, the pottery at New Geneva hosted picnics on their grounds and made these pitchers as souvenirs.
This beauty features a Classic Form with Flared Rim, Pinched Spout, Tall Neck, Bulbous Base, Applied Handle, and Lots of Decoration. Three stripes frame the spout, shoulder and base. Four dashes decorate the spout, with two fleurs de lis on each side. A sideways tulip on a vine adorns the body. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles on the incised line at the shoulder and a 1/4" flake at the base. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A stone ping below the rim on the right side in the making.
