    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar whose decoration indicates that it was made by J. M. Hickerson of Strasburg, Virginia.

     

    James M. Hickerson ran his pottery in Strasburg, Virginia from 1884-1898 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 298-301). 

     

    This beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove to Facilitate Tying a Cover Over the Top, and Four Brushed Cobalt Florals Dangling From the Shoulder.  Stands 9 3/4" tall.  

     

    Excellent Condition.  A 3/8" chip on the rim and a faint stain run.   No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
