    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."

     

    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).

     

    This beauty features a the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Bright Cobalt Flower Blossom with Three Petals.  Additional cobalt accent handle terminals.  Stands 11 3/4" tall.  

     

    Fair to Good Condition.  A 1/4" flake on the right side of the spout, an 8" hairline from the rim on the back to the right of the handle (closeup), and staining from use.  No base chips or restoration.
