Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Early 4 Gallon Ovoid Crock made and stamped by "D. Fisk."
This company made pottery in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1830's (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 87-88).
Comes most recently from the Treichler collection.
This beauty features an Large Size, Ovoid Form with Applied Handles, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bold Triple Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration. Measures 13 3/4" tall and 10" across the top.
Good Condition. A narrow 1/2" chip inside the rim, a hairline across the right handle (closeup 1). A 6" horizontal hairline on the back center to the right with 6" and 8" intersecting vertical lines, some of which is seen inside (closeup 2). Staining from use. No outer rim or base chips or restoration.
