Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "D. P. Shenfelder, Reading PA."
This is the work of Daniel P. Shenfelder who potted in Reading from the 1870's to the 1890's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 21-26).
This beauty features a Crock Form (atypical for this maker), a Crisp Pottery Stamp, and one of Shenfelder's signature decoration--a Brushed Cobalt Vine with Two Fuchsias. The decoration has 33 leaves and two fuchsia blossoms with 6 petals each and hugs the right side. Measures 9 1/2" tall and 9 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 1" surface ping line on the right handle (closeup). That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
