Item 10813
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Wonderful 1 Gallon Batter Jug whose decoration indicates that it was made by Nathan Clark, Jr. of Athens, N.Y. This potter ran the family pottery from 1843-1891 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66).
This beauty sports the Batter Jug Form with Large Pour Spout, Bail Handle, and Stabilizing Handle on the Back Bottom. It is decorated with Two Tulip in the Nathan Clark Style. The handle appears to be original, but does not come fully upright. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A minor 1/4" chip inside the rim, chipping and 1 1/4" hairline in the spout, chips under the back bottom handle, and some light staining from use. No outer rim or base chips, body hairlines or cracks, or restoration.
