    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Large 2 Gallon Cake Crock with Lots of Decoration.  Actually it marked 2 gallon but is closer to 3 gallon. 

     

    The flower with the circle between the stem and leaves makes a probable attribution to Mauldine Perine or his former associate, William Linton of Baltimore, Maryland.  Perine and sons worked in stoneware from approximately 1827 to after 1900 and Linton made stoneware from 1845 to 1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98). 

     

    This beauty is a Large, Features a Squared Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals, and Three Dangling Leaves with Center Tulip on Each  Brushed strong cobalt on a light gray glaze for strong contrast.  Measures 7 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  Three small chips inside (1/4" to 3/8") and a half dozen small chips outside the rim (1/8" to 1/2"), a chip under each handle (1/8", 1/2"), and a Y-shaped hairline on the bottom.  No cracks, stains, or restoration.
