Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4" Mini Motto Jug.  
 
This beauty reads, "Motto Jug. 'Whie we live, let us live." Detrick Distilling Company, Dayton, Ohio."
 
This Dayton company made a series of a dozen Motto Jugs around 1900, one without a border around the motto in large letters and one with a border in small letters.  These jugs have retained their popularity with collectors due to their small size and humorous mottos.
 
This example is from the series without a border around the motto and the motto in large letters.  Stands 4" tall. 
 
This is one of the harder-to-find mottos in the series.
 
Very Good Condition.  A narrow 1/4" sliver chip on the right side of the spout by the handle and a pinhead-size nibble at the base.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A  narrow 1/2" glaze skip on the right side of the handle in the making.
